Brossart Family Genealogy

Welcome to our website! As we currently understand, our direct line of
Brossart ancestors originated in Normandy, France. They were taken
from France and founded the prison colony of Büchelburg, Germany in
1692. Büchelburg records the family name changing slightly over time.
Originally spelled Bronsar, then Bronsart, before settling upon
Brossart. They were farmers and blacksmiths. War led the family to
move to the United States in 1851. They eventually settled in the
Campbell County region of Kentucky. Of that immigrant farming family,
Ferdinand Brossart rose to bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of
Covington Kentucky. As such, he is the only local person ever to hold
that position.
